Time to Upgrade?

Time to Upgrade?

Just wondering how much longer should I keep my GSP's in the 55G I have? Its been 4 months since I got them and they are already about 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 inches long now. Salinity is at 1.020. I am currently looking at trying to find a nice 75G to 125G SW setup nearby on Craigslist for around $400. There was also a 200G as it would either make a nice home for them or perhaps a Porcupine Puffer that I hope to get eventually.

How many do you have? I would say at that size upgrading them now would probably be a good idea. As far as moving that 400 gallon, you'd probably need a very large truck or a trailer.

He has 2 gsp's in the 55

Thank you for clearing that up for me. =]

Then yes, I think upgrading rather soon would be good. By the time they're between 2-3 inches it's best to give them 30 gallons each (minimum of course ;) )

Yeah I understand the 30G per GSP rule. I know I had been exceeding the requirements for the whole time I had them. I just did not want to postpone upgrading too far out and stunt them. (I have just been holding out for the perfect deal to come along) ;)

Oh I figured you knew the rule. You seem to be quite caring for your puffers, I was just attempting to answer your question. Sorry if I came off rude or pushy. I know what you mean about the perfect deal; I am always trying to find one. Good luck! =]

Yes sooner is always better than later. I would aim to upgrade within the next month or so to be safe, you are not pushing your luck yet but may soon be cutting it fine.
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly
