So, I just now figured something out. I'm sure you'll all get a good laugh from it!
Up until this point, I had been thawing a cube of frozen bloodworms in a dish of tank water and then using a turkey baster to suck them out of the dish and place in the tank.
Last night, I couldn't find my dish! I was distraught. Something clicked in my head and I popped the bulb off of the end of the turkey baster, placed the frozen cube into the bulb before reattaching it to the tube part of the baster, and sucked some tank water up. I then turned the baster over, let the tank water and cube of worms swish around in the bulb for a minute, and then squirted the worms right into the tank.
Why didn't I think of this sooner? I don't have to get out a separate dish for thawing anymore!

Always rinse the worms before adding or you are adding unwanted pollution. Good plan in theory tho

a tea strainer works great for rinsing the defrosted bloodworms

I always end up with the other stuff anyway, but I'll give rinsing in a brine shrimp net a try. I'm definitely not using my tea strainer!

Well, I tried thawing the worms and then rinsing them in a brine shrimp net, but I really didn't see much of a difference, sadly. 
I suppose the good news is that I'll be switching to live blackworms as soon as I get the puffers and have them treated for IPs. I imagine those are easier to rinse?

You cannot see high DOCs but are still water polution and require extra water changes which would not be needed if frozen/thawed foods were rinsed initially.

50% of the food I offer is live blackworms. I soak them in vitamins & ground fish food.

turkey baster? i have one for fish stuff, but ive always used a medicine dropper for worms... never thought to rinse out the bloodworms after thawing, but i dont want my brine shrimp net smelling like worms... although i could go buy a tea strainer just for worms
