Puffer food-king prawns
I managed to find some fresh king prawns at the fish counter(supermarket). The label said they had previously been frozen, so is it safe to freeze them again or do I not need to as they have already been frozen once?

You should not refreeze defrosted food. If they have been previously frozen they should be safe
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

yeah almost all the 'fresh' raw seafood at the stores i see have that previously frozen sign near them. i would just make sure they werent cooked at all before being frozen.Donna_G wrote:I managed to find some fresh king prawns at the fish counter(supermarket). Never trust big puffers. The fingers you save may be your own. -RTR

Re: Puffer food-king prawns
I went to get some more king prawns today(supermarket fish counter) and stopped to look at the pre packed fresh prawns. Most of them were cooked but they had a large pack exactly the same as what I'd just bought, the label said ok to freeze so I got one.bertie 83 wrote:You should not refreeze defrosted food. When I'd finish wrapping them for freezing, I checked the packaging again and it says
"Suitable for freezing. This product has been previously frozen and returned to chill temperature. Further freezing will not affect quality"
Will they be safe to use? I don't wanna make him ill
I also thought defrosted food could not be re-frozen, very confusing

There for humans so they should be ok but i thought you shouldn't defrost something and then freeze it again .Donna_G wrote:I went to get some more king prawns today(supermarket fish counter) and stopped to look at the pre packed fresh prawns.
