Setting up sw please help
Hi guys I want to set up a marine tank i no most of basicis I.e saltanity lr skimmers not to use a filter unless filled with lr rubble but I was wondering If I was to use some lr any cure my own what would be the best rock to use as I have read porous is best! I can get hold of lava touch very light fully of holes holds water and lets it flow through would this be a good form of rock to use or avoid?? Any other advice is most welcome also best way to keep sparkly clean water would be good as one of my lfs always looks dark dirty any covered with a really thick hair algae and THIS is their display tank!! Thanks guys

I don't really know about the lava rock you are talking about.....I have always just got my rock from local reefers who are tearing down their systems. You usually get a pretty good deal on it and the rock is already cured. As for keeping your tank nice and clean. The best advice would be to not overstock your tank, run the biggest skimmer possible, don't overfeed, and use ro-di water to fill up your tank and do water changes.

Any porus rock will work as long as you have live rock to seed it.
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly
