29 Gallon Dwarf Puffer Tank Aquascaping Ideas

Post by borgey »

Hey everyone, I have a 29 gallon tank with 4 DP's living in it. I have had the tank setup the same way for a long time now and I am thinking that it is time for a change. I currently just have some driftwood with fake plants and some Java Fern in there. I would like to stick to the natural look without a doubt and maybe add a few more real plants that are low light and easy to care for since I only have a single T8 for lighting. The Java Fern I have has been absolutely thriving so something that requires similar amount of light/care would be prime. The thing is, is that I just do not think I am good at aquascaping my tanks for some odd reason. It just seems that no matter what I do I think it does not come out as good as I would like it to. So I would like to get some ideas and maybe pictures of your current Dwarf Puffer tanks or even other Puffer tanks that I could use to spark a good idea or setup for some aquascaping. So please everyone show me some pictures of your "natural" puffer tanks or even post what you think looks best in this type of setup.

I am also going to do the same for my Figure 8's tank. I know F8's are not freshwater (and my tank is not) but I think it's pointless to post the same exact post as this one in the brackish section. This tank also has the "natural" look. I think I like the mangroove swamp style for this setup BUT like I previously said I am not good at aquascaping :( . So PLEASE everyone HELP ME GIVE my DP's and F8 some good looking homes!

I am setting up a 29g DP tank myself. It's not done yet, so I don't have any pictures, but I can tell you what I'm doing!

I have a few crypts, java fern, java moss, and frogbit (LOVE the look of the frogbit. So pretty with the little tendrils hanging down!)

I'm doing sand for substrate, which I think does a lot for the looks. The driftwood and the sand look nice together!

As for your scaping, java ferns and java moss are said to do very well when tied to your driftwood. This also helps to prevent your tank from looking like you just plopped the plants into the substrate.

I only responded since there were no other responses... hopefully someone with more experience can chime in, because I am very much a beginner with this.

Google Dutch-style aquariums. The Dutch method is actually mathematical. You can use relatively simple math to give you starting points for focal areas, lines, colors, and so forth.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."
