Hello, everyone, please meet Hachi, the new member of our family. After a couple months of research trying to figure out how to have a puffer, the whole family was excited to bring her home yesterday from LFS. She is still a bit shy, wherever we come up to her, she would back away but we think she is getting better and is exploring her new home. We have her in a 20L tank, AC50 filter, jager heater at 80F, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 5, PH 8, 1.03 SG. She just had her first meal of frozen shrimp. Now, if we can just figure out how to breed the pond snail we have (have eggs but haven't seen any newborn in 2 weeks), she should be all set. Hope she likes her new home.

Welcome to TPF! I've found my pond/pest snails live in the substrate almost all the time. Only my ramshorn surf the glass. If you have sand/gravel in your tank that's probably where they are!

20L = 20 gallon Long

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

The tank is a 20 gallon long. Hachi is the only resident in there so should be ok from what I read. Don't plan on putting anything else in there other than her food. Don't want any non-food thing get eaten up.

Cody, I have a separate 5 gallon bare bottom tank for snail breeding. Got some pond snails free from my local petsmart a few times. First few died for some reason. Dug through the forum and found out that I need a filter and a heater. Added those to the tank, also added cuttlebone, algae wafter and fresh veggie and doing 50% water change weekly. Now I am getting a a lot of egg sacks on the glass but some have been over 2 weeks old and I don't see any new born. Anyone know how long it will take for them to hatch? I read anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks. May just have to wait it out.

Well... the snails finally hatched. We can see a lot of tiny, tiny, tiny snails now. Hope they will continue to hatch then Hachi would have a continuous supply of snails which she LOVES.
