Had an accident with Mushroom!

Post by Christie_ZXR »

Hello people! Sorry I haven't been around for aaaages! Had so much on. Hope you and your puffs are all well :D

Anyways, it's just a quick q, I really hope I'm just being paranoid, but I wanted some second opinions just incase.
I had an algae scraper in Mushroom's tank yesterday, and I slipped and managed to whack the poor little guy with it :( and I'm now totally terrified I've hurt him. He's behaving normally now, not gone off food and I can't see any marks on him. But he did swim in a rather odd pattern straight after I got him! So hopefully I just gave him a bit of a headache. He buried himself straight away too, but he does that if he's spooked. I had a good look at him when he came back out for dinner though, and as I said, I can't see a mark on him. But I'm worried I could have done some internal damage which wouldn't be visible, and I don't know whether this is likely? Or what to look out for other than the obv things like unusual behaviour and lack of appetite. Although, I don't think "lack of appetite" is in Mushroom's vocabulary!! He's always eaten like a horse!

Guess I just need some reassurance! Anyone ever experienced anything like this before or got any ideas?

Sorry, Mushroom is a Takifugu Ocellatus, I give up with common names I'm afraid because I keep calling him by the wrong ones... :?

Is that the mushroom in the picture? I have no knowlage on your puffer but if it's built like a suvattii they are very tough, mine has smashed into my filter swimming very fast head first. When i first got him he destroyed my tank in one night and had no damage on him and is still fine now.

I wouldnt worry. The odd swimming pattern was probably him just trying to get away from whatever was attacking him lol.

ty :)

I'm so proud of him, but he is a little horror!! lol. People generally have bad luck with these puffers, but so far so good, (touch wood!!) he's always appeared healthy. Apart from one little incident when I first got him, but that was ages ago.

He's getting another tank upgrade soon too. Gonna have a lovely bit 4ft tank all to himself in the hallway :D I'm collecting a new one this thursday :D Then it's just a case of mustering up the willpower for the enormous job that will be moving all my tanks around again to make space, and getting him into it!

Hopefully this one will be a tank for life now, so once he's in it, that's where he's staying :)
