Pink on my LR

I think Bacon is trying to decorate. Ive noticed all these little pink dots showing up on my dry rock. What is it?

oh sweet. I didnt think thats what it was cause I was under the impression that that stuff took a long time to start to grow

it is a forum ... you get what you pay for... but my rock did something similar.

From the pics is it immature, but if it turns out not to be.. then my friend, I am in the same boat as you are in.

where is the live rock from (the real live rock)?

It may appear pink now because the base rock is so white. Eventually I'd expect it to go purple (Fiji) or red (Indo).

The real LR is Fiji. It has some green and pink on it too, just easier to take a pic of the pink on white rock

I plan to go SW one day and I always fear hitchhickers. I am so terrified I will get some horrible thing that just rips a finger off.

The worst I've ever gotten are bristleworms and emerald crabs. Aside from that, the hitchhikers tend to be beneficial.

I acquired a giant orange fireworm with one exceptionally 'live' batch of live rock. I did something funny to the water chemistry and it came out of its hole and started thrashing around. Scared the bejesus out of me! : )

you probably got some hitchhikers you just dont know it lol. i have only ever gotten bristleworms that i know of. i literally had hundreds of them. i saw them all when my heater malfunctioned and shocked my tank killing everything off. all bristleworms, snails etc came to the surface of the substrate and i couldnt believe how much i had in my tank
