f8 temperment with other f8's

Post by Dawgz »

so its been a while since ive been on the board now, but i had a really really good question to ask....i have a 10 gallon setup with the f8 puffer for a while now, when i bought him he was with other f8's in the tank....my question is....can i add ONE more f8? will my f8 injure him? or will it injure my F8? i cant upgrade to a bigger tank but i think two f8's in a 10 SHOULD be fine since they are really really tinny fish...but anyway, can someone tell me....

15G is the minimum recommended tank size for one F8. Two in a 10G would not be a good idea.

yeah, i have 1 F8 in a 10 gal tank, but im upgrading to a 20 long soon. 10 gallons is just too small i think.

If you had gotten all three F-8s of the original group, you would have likely had a higher chance of peacefull coexistence. The earlier they are together, the better the chance of success IME. But as is common with puffers, once sexual maturity is reached (~18 months), all bets are off and it is purely individual personalities - you have to fall back on the Ebert technique and remove the offender(s).

How do you think I started all those single-tank F-8 tanks? Most were from separating out incompatables.
