I got this guy a week ago, and he has been awesome! I have been feeding him a small amount every morning for the last 4-5 days; I have been rotating between bloodworms, shrimp, and scallops. Oh and his name is Bobo. Here are a few pics and a vid from when I first got him.
He is currently growing out in a 20gal with two AC30s, and when he gets a closer to 4-5"s, I want to try him in my 220 pred community... if it doesnt work out he will be getting the 220 to himself and I will be re-homing the other fish.

The silk/cloth plants in the Fahaka tank I just got from Big Als, and the big plants in the back of the 220 I just picked up at a local LFS (Dragon Aquarium) which happens to be right beside Big Als. The other I dont remember because I got them years ago, I think it might of been Super Pet which is now owned by Petsmart.
That may be so. However its like putting an angry pitbull in a box with kittens. You have been warned. These WILL attack anything even much much larger fish than themselves. I have never seen such a moody fish as my fahaka, he even likes to go for my hand lol. Good luck

Well, I wouldn't Datnoids kittens. Also, that is why my pred community tank has worked for 3+ years, because all the fish can defend them selves and put the aggressor in their place. I is not like I am putting him in a tank full of tetras, which would be closer to your analogy. This situation would be closer to putting a Pitbull in a box with an equally aggressive dog, or fish in this case. Which is why I will give it a try. It could go either way, but I have heard success of people keeping keeping Fahakas with days because of their aggression. So we will see what happened in a few months.
Anything can be tried but fahakas have a powerful bite and i do not believe they can be safely housed with anything. I have tried many fish which have all been attacked with the exception of my large cae who he cant catch so doesnt try, and small rasporas for the same reasons. However i fully expect they may also get eaten. All i am saying is if you like those other fish dont try it. At a very small size mine made destroying a 12" plec look easy. Anything that tries to impose dominance on fahakas will die.

The Datnoid hunts by vigilantly stalking its prey and then unexpectedly open its large mouth and suck in the animal. The predatory nature of the Datnoid makes it an unsuitable companion for smaller species in the aquarium. Instead, choose fish that is to large to be considered prey by the Datnoid. The Datnoid is docile and non-aggressive and should therefore not be kept with aggressive species that will stress it. The Datnoid can sometimes be a little hostile to newcomers in the aquarium, but it will usually become friendlier as soon as it has grown accustomed to the new inhabitant. Just a heads up

Well, there are 6 dats in there that I have had for since they were small, some for almost 4 years, and they fight almost every day. It is true that new comers go through an initiation, but the dats always remind each other of where their place is, except for the gar, he gets left alone. So I am not sure where you got they are non-aggressive. Also when I had Pbass in there that only ate live, a few of the dats would chase down the feeders and hit them hard... So you can't always believe what you read on the net, also the dats I have left have killed a few other dats (4 or so) and a few other fish; it has been a stable community for the last two years though, with no deaths.
I am just not looking forward to the update which will go a little like..........
Woke up and turned the aquarium lights on the only fish alive is the fahaka. Everything else was torn to shreds. The fahaka looks fat and needs a diet. I now need to scoop the remains of my amazing fish collection out and do a large waterchange. He must have just flipped out! lol.
