can't get snails for my gsp
So I used to get snails for my 2 inch long green spotted puffer from Petsmart but they will no longer give them to me for fear of them messing up my tank and me sueing them. Smh. So I found a lady who sold them to me for a few months but she no longer sells them anymore. So I have no source of snails for my gsp! So what I've been doing lately is getting raw clams and taking a hammer to them so they break up into a bunch of pieces with meat still attached to them. When I feel them to my puffer he scrapes his teeth against the shell and sometimes even bites the sides of it where there isn't any meat. Is this good enough for keeping his teeth ground down or do I NEED the snails?

I've been very pleased with ramshorn snails I bought on eBay. Quarantined them for several weeks, and now they're breeding their own replacements in a 10 gallon tank. Just something for you to consider.
Yo ho, yo ho, a puffer's life for me.

+1
I would try breeding ramshorns, apparently it's as easy as sticking a group of them in a tank and ignoring them xD LOL I will be getting some soon to start a breeding program so if you like I can keep you updated and if it hits off and you decide against breeding I'd be happy to send you some for the price of shipping =)

Re: can't get snails for my gsp
I have found that ramshorns breed the quickest and grow to a good size the fastest. I use a 5.5 gallon tank and they have pretty much taken over, so I've been feeding my F8 4 or 5 every other day now.
Those who say money can't buy happiness don't know where to find puffers.
