I cant decide!

Post by boosh96 »

I can't decide what kind of puffer I want! I'm trying to decide between a dwarf puffer, a figure eight puffer, or an arrowhead puffer. Can someone give me some good pointers?

It all depends on a few things. Such as how big of a tank you want to purchase and if you don't mind mixing brackish water up for the f8 since the other two are Fresh water.

You can have the most Dwarf puffers since they need the smallest amount of space. 5g per puffer
F8 are brackish water and require 15g per puffer
Arrow head need a minimum of 30g per puffer (also a lurker so he/she wont move much except for when its feeding time the other two are more active and will swim around)
1 M. Turgidus - 29 gallon

Also depends on what kind of personality you're looking for.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Arrowhead puffers are better at chess.

Given those options, I'd go with the Figure 8. They don't get too big, so you could keep them in a 20 gallon tank, they require water that is only mildly brackish, they've got the friendly, puppy-dog like personality that puffers are well known for, and they'll live for quite a while if properly taken care of.
