my green spotted puffer is too nice lol
so i got my GSP some ghost shrimp today just to see how he would react to live, moving food (i've only fed him mysis shrimp, clams, and small snails.) so i threw one in and it basically seemed like he didn't wanna kill the thing! lol it was quite funny. he would go up to it and like barely nip at it which caused the shrimp to quickly jump to another area of the tank. my puffer would then slowly swim over to him again and repeat the process hahahaha i had to hold the shrimp for him to get it and even then he wasn't too rough lol when i drop snails and mysis shrimp in he goes crazy and attacks them but he would barely go after a tiny ghost shrimp lol guess he's just too nice. just thought i'd share with you guys.

There is a learning process for any new food. Don't judge a fish's response to a single feeding. Some puffers (DPs are notorious) spend a lot of time checking out all of their food items, even the most familiar things. But most - once they have learned how to attack a new live food item - do dispatch them quickly.

yeah that was how Figgy reacted to the ghost shrimp I tried to put in as tankmates. I had a feeling he was going to keep bothering them, so I put them in my DP tank.

I've found in the past that with most pets when feeding live food, it gets easier as the pet learns the prey to be food.
