decided to get f8 puffer
after vigorous research i have decided to get a f8 over a congo. can it go in a 10 gal and will it need a protein skimmer??

what difference will 5 gallons make? but I could probably buy a 20

Well that 5 gallons is another half of the 10 gallon, so a pretty big difference. A 20 gallon with a F8 would be awesome because you would have space for some bumble bee gobys, or if you want to get dwarfs you could get a bunch.blackghostknife wrote:what difference will 5 gallons make? but I could probably buy a 20

Awesome little BW puffers. Yeah 20 gallon would be perfect because they are a very active puffer that loves to swim alot.

and remember the 15G is the minimum, not the ideal size. after upgrading my gsp's tank to the 55, and seeing how much better they like it I couldn't suggest the 15G tank. I'd say at least 30 for them to be able to actually swim.

Can you get a 20gal long? That would be a great tank size.
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

Oh and you dont need a protein skimmer for a BW tank. Do your WC's after it is set-up and it fully cycles and you will be good to go

I think a 10g is way too small for a single F8. The 15g is 50% bigger!

15g is bare minimum. I think a 29g is about right, but a 20g is definitely in the right direction.

My F8 started in a 29g with 2 BBGs; He's in a 46g now and I have plans for a 55g in a few months. Sometimes more is just more.

Exactly, I have 2 F8s in a 30 gal., and they arent fully grown. Theyll need a bigger tank when they are! They are very active fish and get bored pretty easy, they need lots of space to swim and explore. Plus if you want to add any other critters to the tank (keep it a species tank) youd want more space. Bumblebee Gobies do great with my F8s! A 20gal. would be good, 15gal. is an absolute minimum for these guys. Good luck with the choosing and getting things started!
