so with fear of sparking a eheim v whoever battle, i need to replace a eheim 2028 which has seen much better days. tank is a 5 foot by 2ft by 2ft also running a 2329 eheim, what do you guys think? needs to be capable of a 6ft x 3ft x3 ft ish tank when i move cant wait, in the tank 1 x 12" lineatus and lots of plants. thanks. please no fluval v eheim rants just what u like ta

forgot to add 2 x golden algae eaters i was sold a few years ago as community fish that didnt work out,so they both keep out the way after one offered a hickie to fatboy lol the chase was one to watch

For your best bet get something that will help turn your water over at least 5 times an hour. Doesnt really matter what company you use. but i prefer either building my own stuff or using canister filters with the trays where you can add your own material instead of the pre-made stuff

thats why i stuck to eheim cos i no how they work was thinking about making a fw sump system but not convinced i couldd get it to work sufficiently or at all might invest in 2 x eheim cannisters and run 3 in total maybe joining outlets/inlets from new 2 not sure yet any other suggestions

If I was going to spend the money for high priced eheim's, I would just buy a Fluval FX5 or a Marineland C-530. But if you are on a budget like me, SunSun hw-404 (530 gph) plus has a uv built right in the canister filter.

these are all cannisters yea? will spend what i need to to get the right filtration will research the sunsun tho thanks. want to filter as well as poss

I have two Fluval and love them. I have heard great things about Sun Sun. I would have bought one when I bought my first Fluval but I was too impatient to wait on shipping...lol! The built in UV is very tempting!

They sure are all canister filters. The Fluval FX5 (over 900 gph), Marineland C-530 (530 gph with 4 large media baskets), and the SunSun hw-404 (530 gph with built in uv and it's a cheaper version of the Marineland C-530). Found Fluval FX5 on ebay around $200 brand new, Marineland C-530 on ebay around $225, and the SunSun hw-404 around $89 but sometimes they dont carry a name just the model like hw-404 or the older version hw-304. But If you got the money to spend and want a good canister filter, I would go with the FX5. Over 900 gph would cut back on extra filtration so it ends up saving you money, imo.

sounds good to me things like that seem to go cheaper over here got a brand new eheim echo (for a smaller tank) for 25 will check out fx5s , sounds like the way to go. is that your lineatus in photo? looks awesome

I have the SunSun hw-303 (375 gph without the uv) and easy to use, set-up, maintance, extremely silent, and at $65.00 free shipping I could not pass it up. Im going to buy the hw-404 (530 gph with uv plus has an on and off switch for the uv) later on. I just wanted to buy one to see if I liked it and if it would be worth buying the larger one. Got to say with those prices and they work well

Go for it!!!!!!!!! Everyone that I heard and read about FX5 say they are awesome monster canister filters.

good luck in your choice, im currently making my own in-line filter. i have all the parts except for another 6 inches of 3/4 inch hose and the pcv parts. coupled with a 580 gph pump it will be able to filter anything from a 40g breeder to a light to medium lightly stocked 120g. think about a DIY filter for your next project, youll save a lot of money that way

What's wrong with the filter? I have some Eheims over 25 years old. i just keep replacing the impeller.
