NEW TANK, awesome deal! Pic

Post by Srkoe »

I posted an ad on cl looking for a tank. A lady responded with a 35 gallon with stand, canopy, lights, heater...everything for $80! I talked her down to $65! Hope she doesn't change her mind by tomorrow. I'm not taking the decorations or ugf though. Either Wally or Marty will go in this tank! Hope it looks as good in person.

They get pretty big and can be rather delicate fish. They do carry a toxin (especially freshly captured ones) that is released when it feels threatened or dies. Beautiful fish though, I've always wanted one too.

Nice tank, good FW planted dwarf tank or single lurker tank...

+1 Sure do need a large tank and very delicate. Also, a cowfish pro told me way back when I got my lil guy that I needed to keep fresh carbon in the filters. Mine was just a little guy but bought him without much research and not knowing my tank was way too small. Wanted to get him in a new larger home so I ended up selling him. Remember they might be a lil box shaped fish BUT they turn into a large and much longer fish that is not flexable at all. So much room needed. Trial and errors!

I've done my research. Don't think it's a fish I would ever actually get to own :(. They are so cool though! My Petco actually had one for a few days. I really hope whoever got it understands it needs. I would also like to own a Lionfish one day...they are such beautiful fish.

Lionfish is why I got into SW tanks in the 1st place over 18 years ago. Dwarf zebra lionfish (Dendrochirus zebra) was my 1st. Very hardy and stays small so you can mangage to keep him in a smaller SW tank. Love the volitan lions too but the tend to be alittle more sensitive and needs more room. I think if I ever get thing back to close to normal around here, I might end up seting up afew small SW tanks up and get one of the beautiful tobies and afew dwarf zebra lions again.

People who buy the cowfish at Petco usually do other fish a favor by taking themselves right out of the hobby in a few months.....

Well I got it. Had to drive an hour. I'm pretty sure it is a 29 and not a 35. It's really good shape though. Gonna paint the stand black though. My husband is probably going to be mad that's it's not larger...I could have got a 29 locally for $75 with everything, but without a canopy. I love the look of canopies.

And after...

Image

Hubby painted the stand black and it looks amazing!!! Gonna fill it up tomorrow and get it running. Wally and Marty will both be moved over tomorrow. As soon as the other tank is ready one will be moved into it and the Congo to the 20 gallon. She will be in the 20 gallon for a few weeks until I can get her a new tank. Can't wait to have this all over with! Well, the ballast in the new tank didn't work and the old HOB that came with it was crap. Will have to hey a new light soon bit in the mean time the light from the 20g will be on it. I also bought an AC 70, but will probably run the old HOB along side to boost the filtration. I also acquired some sweet 1977 vintage air pumps along with the deal...SCORE!!!!! J/K!!!! This pump had a dial on it...never saw that before. All in all I feel like I got a pretty good deal :)

Looking good and painting everything black looks really nice eventhough Im a woodgrain person. You all did an awesome job with the whole set-up though. Btw, still a great deal on the whole set-up without great extras.
