return pump capacity
I am slowly setting up my 90g FOWLR tank for my puffers. I am wondering exactly how big of a return pump I am going to need. I have heard different opinions on this. One being around 500 or 600 gph will be better since it will give the dirty water in the sump more exposure to the skimmer. I will need to make sure to have some pumps in the tank to move the water around a little more though too. The other opinion I have heard is that 800-1000 gph pump will be needed as to have enough water turn over. What have you all found to be most successful?

Re: return pump capacity
I use a separate pump for the sump/display circulation and others for the display-only current. But I am big on fiddling with the in-tank current and having separate pumps allows me to make those small fine-tunings more easily. The circulation between the two vessels is the baseline current. The extra in the display is to avoid dead spots and or excess in some areas.

Re: return pump capacity
I used a SeaSwirl for many years, with the return being the only flow int the tank. The SeaSwirl motor stopped working & I only had 2 single-direction flows in there & after a huge recent cyano outbreak, I added 2 large Korilias & a new SeaSwirl the mix.
