how much did you spend

Post by deathfromabove »

so i went to the LFS to get an estimate on everything i need, and its gonna be 350 dollars for the tank, filter, salt, sand, and all the test kits and hydrometer. the filter is for a 70 gal tank im going with a 30 gal tank, someone posted you should get a filter that runs 300 gal per hour, so i i had that put into the estimate, i kinda feel like im getting ripped off, petco has a sale on tanks 1 dollar per gallon on any tank, idk if i should go to petco and buy everything individualy or go back to the LFS and spend the 350 or get a 30 gal tank kit for 140 dollars and than get the bigger filter and the test kits and everythin else i need or say screw it and just but a 29 gallon biocube, how much did you guys invest on your first puffers? by the way i want a GSP

IMO, if you buy either of those tanks (especially the 29g), you'll wind up upgrading for a GSP.

I see no reason to buy a aquarium set up at a pet store. Maybe if they got a killer sale like Petco $1 per 1 gallon.

Craigslist is the way to go.

+2 for Craigslist.

I just got a 75g with stand, triple tube T8 light, canopies, background, python and extension, 2 Fluval 404 canister filters with media and extra new parts, 250w Jager heater, and a bunch of chemicals, meds, and supplies...All in great shape. The stand even matches my 29g DP tank stand.

I would also check your LFS bulletin boards also. I got a 90gal and a 40 breeder with anything and everything anyone could imagine for $100.00

I would suggest local online classified ads, then Craigslist....much better deals on used tanks, etc

I also suggest at least a 55 for a GSP
