Just trying to find out from a pro please, I have a Fahaka puffer (CHONGO) in a tank. When I got him he was small I suppose you would say and did not have much color to him. Now as he is getting bigger/older about 4 months he has started developing his adult colors and stripes. Just wondering on average how long it usually takes these guys to get their full adult colors. I am aware that the tank lighting and surrounds do have something to do with the brightness and such. But I was wondering how much longer I will be waiting to see him in all his glory.

My fahaka never really got those brilliant maroon stripes that other fahakas have.

What you feed your fish has a lot to do with colour as well,

Mine is about 10 months old and already has a beautiful bright yellow belly and dark maroon stripes down his sides/back. He is about 8 inches now I'd say. When i got him, he was the size of a nickel.

To be honest, at about 5-6 months, max. He took about 3-4 weeks to eat ANYTHING, but once started he didn't stop.

I always preferred the yellow as the striping over the maroon, the yellow striping seems to become more prominent with defined lines at 6".

Abe my fahaka is hitting the 6" size and hes getting the maroon stripes more prominent
they are more obvious when hes getting fed, or gets excited!
