Safety Space for shrimp in GSP tank

Has anyone tried making a cave or box-like structure for shrimp to hide in? I know people have made fry sanctuaries, which are just some sort of cave with tiny holes in it for the fry to hide in. You think shrimp would hide inside a cave that had lots of tiny holes and was filled/surrounded by with java moss?

Or do you think they wouldn't catch on and the puffs would just kill them all eventually?

depends on the size of the GSP.

1/4" tubing cut and banded in a cluster is good, but the fish may get stick in that. Mosses are also good if you don't mind the fish rearranging the tank once in a while.

A separate breeder tank is best. Look on the classifieds for "free" and you may find a 5 or 10gal tank there

Co-housing predator and prey is rarely a good or successful idea. Use separate tanks.

whats the reason for trying to keep a safe haven? is it for breeding or are you just looking for a safe spot in the tank while they clean and get eaten one by one? regardless of the "safe haven" you provide in the tank, the shrimp will venture out for food and eventually become food. if your looking to breed, a separate tank is best for the safety of your breeding bunch
