Ocean Nutrition Frozen Clams

Anyone use these for their Figure 8s or even maybe Congo puffers? I am considering getting some but I'm not sure what I'd do with them if they are not accepted by my fish. They aren't cheap.

So far my F8 prefers bloodworms, but I do think he is eating snails which I drop into the tank several times a week. This are the fish that wouldn't touch a mussel, so I'm wondering if it's worth a try.

Try the mussels again. Mine wouldn't touch them and I gave up offering them and thought I was stuck with a huge bag of them. When I first tried the mussels the he woudln't even look at it. I tried a month or so later and he would just bite off pieces and spit them right back out making a mess and swallowing non of it. Then I tried them a few months later and now I have to remove it so he doesn't over eat.

I cleaned a shell and left it in the tank thinking the BBGs might like it for cover. The F8 just hovered around it, checking it out for a whole day. Sometimes he would actually lay on it like he was protecting it from the other fish.


I also tear off small pieces for my DPs and they love it.

How long do you leave the mussel in the tank? I want to be diligent about not letting it pollute the water but I have no idea how long is ok.

I think at first when he wouldn't eat the mussels I may have left it in there for an hour or two...I really don't remember. Now I can only leave it in there for about 2 minutes to prevent over eating, and I only do this about once a week.

Also, when he finally started eating the mussels it was after I moved him from the 29g to the 46g and changed all the decor. I don't know if it was the change, or if he just settled in to life in a fish tank. All in all it took like 4 months for him to eat anything but snails. But he did like mealworms also. He would get one or two a week but I found those to be rough for him to pass and quit feeding them.
