Whats in Season?

Post by FADE2BLACK_1973 »

Just wondering what species of FW puffers are most lfs getting in this time of year? I gave one of the lfs's a list of Fw puffers that I wanted here while back. They told me that if they come across any from any of their suppliers, they would let me know but have not heard anything from them yet. Looked at about 4 lfs's and asked 2 others in the closest state and no one has any. Just GSP's at Wal-Mart and acouple at one of the lfs's. GSP's has become pretty popular around my parts in the last couple of years. Fahaka, Congo, Hairy, and Arrowhead puffers are the one's im looking for.

the answer to that is you'd have to know when the spawning season is.

Some may know the answer to one or 2 species... many more don't :(

Very good Question in deed!

I've been looking for a Fahaka for about 5 month now, someone on another forum told me the reason I'm having such a hard time finding one right now is because they're only collected once a year, during the spring time (Around June). This was from another member on different forum so I don't know if it's 100% legit but it makes enough sense why no lfs's have any in stock and have no clue when they'll be getting any.

J-P, That's why I have afew other species on my list. So I figured that maybe different species would have different collection times. Because every once in awhile I have seen different species pop up at one of the lfs's.

HGI, That's why happen to post this in the 1st place, to see if and what species of FW puffers might be poping up at lfs's in other places. So maybe I could know what might pop up on a order list at the lfs that is looking out for me a species on the list. Fahaka is one that Im planning on buying as soon as they can find one. One of the others on the list would be a big plus also. But still going and wanting a young Fahaka unless one that is good size pops up at one of the lfs's that needs a good home.

Yea, I've been looking all over Canada for a Fahakaing Puffer, calling all the lfs in BC every week to see if they got one in. I found on in Saskatchewan but shipping during the winter may be an issue, trying to work that out at the moment.

Check used.com, craigslist, kijiji, even search on google "for sale fahaka", That's how I ended up finding the one in Saskatchewan.

Best of luck though,

I'm having a coral shipped from WA to Chicago next week. Both states are in their teens. If packaged properly, it shouldn't be a problem.

I believe he owns a LFS in Ohio. I can't really remember exactly but I can get you his email. Anyway, he gets some great puffers monthly and I have purchased a Hairy from him before. Had it shipped and he was perfectly healthy. Currently, he has 4inch Mbu for $130 and he always has Baileys for $45-$65.

In about acouple of days, the lfs told me they will be getting all the puffers on the list I gave them to look for and order for me. Tetraodon Lineatus, Tetraodon Miurus, Monotrete Baileyi, Monotrete Suvattii, Monotrete Palembangensis, and not sure what else I put on it. I figured it would be alot easier to find and order more different species of FW puffers...lol. I will not believe they found and order all 5 on the list until I see it myself. So I will let you all know what they get in in acouple of days. Really hoping I get a Fahaka in this shippment but a Congo or Hairy puffer would also be nice to get.
