Going on week three; puffer is happy and healthy, swims around at night, sleeps in a cave during the day, interaction with lion fish is minimal at best, though they must be separated when feeding (competition seems to make the puffer want to nip at the lion), so now they get fed by themselves, when they are not feeding, they get along fine, yesterday morning the puffer was even sleeping next to the lion fish in the same cave when I came downstairs, neither left the cave when I peered in and seemed comfortable there.

I'm keeping a log whenever I notice unusual behaviour between the two to provide more information for people in the future who want to pursue this match up.

Heres a video I took today of the puffer eating raw pacific white shrimp.
I stopped feeding him krill after the first week.

I have also been breeding and feeding him snails, which he seems to love. No feeder fish what so ever has gone in his belly.

How old would you guys estimate he is given his size, LFS didn't tell me a precise date, he's pretty small still.
