I am about to put a ten gallon tank containing my DP Jujube next to my computer.
Jujube wants more attention and I am tired of crap piling up on my desk.
It will be tank, monitor, tower...so the computer cords are not on the same side as the tank. The tank will have its own outlet for its cords and all of the computer cords are on a separate outlet with a surge protector
As I am about to do this, I am thinking of ways that this combination can end in disaster!
Is this a good idea?

other than dripping water all over the place during a water change.. EMF .. that will disrupt the little guy to no end.

His water changes are not very messy. He is one DP in a 10 gallon...I rarely even see his poop.J-P wrote:other than dripping water all over the place during a water change.. EMF .. that will disrupt the little guy to no end.
You really think EMF would bother him? I did not realize a computer would put off that much EMF?

Re: Computers and tanks?
your PC has a hard rive and memory that are magnetic based...
Old CRT are similar but the new LED and plasma screens are different.. much smaller EMF output. You can keep him near the PC within eye shot, just not WITH the PC ... give at least 3 ~4 ' from the outlets and the main unit.

Re: Computers and tanks?
We used to keep a betta in 10g next to computer without any problems, kept him like that for 8 months, not much input I know - he never seemed affected
Re: Computers and tanks?
i've got a 55gallon and a 25 gallon either side of my pc, it's not a problem as long as you are careful with water changes.
