also in the tank are 2 amano shrimp about an inch long.
puffer eats like a horse.

they are always sifting thru the sand substrate, and I dont feed the shrimp
but they are alive & kicking!
any ideas?
theres no poo whatsoever sucked up when doing weekly WC

Re: no poo in tank?
Had to respond to a post with this cool of a title!
4inches is not that big...so the poop might not be that big either...
I have read that some puff always poo in the same place....well if your puff likes to poo near the filter...there is a good chance the filter sucks it up..

Re: no poo in tank?
there was always poo at the bottom end of tank before shrimp went it.
ive searched and searched and no poo in last 2 weeks.
but he must be pooing cos hes eating, digesting his food
and has good weight and belly on him.
ive always seen poo in past, but not since the shrimp
the puffer is fed every day, fasted one day a week,
so didnt think two shrimp could consume all his poo?!
but they must be lol

Re: no poo in tank?
The shrimp are probably stirring it up as they scavenge and then it gets sucked up by the filter. Shrimp are good to have around for eating uneaten food and algae, stirring up debris, and being the occasional snack.
There are many knowledgeable fish keepers on this forum willing to help and give great advice...The advice is free; What you choose to do with it gives it value.

Re: no poo in tank?
you would definitely see the poo so either its collecting somewhere you cant see or the other options that have been posted.

Re: no poo in tank?
well he was pooing today cos i saw him as i was about to feed him
dont think the shrimp can stir it up that high.
but either they are eating it, or the filter is sucking it up.
either is possible

Re: no poo in tank?
My current filters dont suck it up they just corale it into a pile, makes it easier to find it though
