Cover Your Filter Intakes!!!

Post by Pufferpunk »

Please learn from my mistakes! I bought a Red Congo puffer last night. Got home, removed the gravel substrate & replaced it with sand. I pulled off the intake strainer tube, so the filter wouldn't suck up any sand while I was dumping it in. Put the puffer & decor back in & went to bed. Woke up this morning to the puffer inside the filter, chewed up by the impeller. This is the 3rd time I've done this!!! I feel like a serial killer... :(

It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

That's awful. :(
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

I can't even look at that tank now. Other thing is, I moved the Royal pleco out of there, into the 125g. He really looked happy in there, with the wood to eat & all that room. I apologized for putting him back into the 20g, to keep it cycled. IDK if I should just tear down that tank or look for another Congo.

Get another Congo. I know you are very hurt by what happened, but we all have made horrible mistakes. I didn't put up a divider right and my Baileyi attacked my Congo and it died as a result -- talk about guilt.
But I say get another Congo, they are lovely puffers and you know you want one. Try not to dwell on what happened, you can't change anything.

We learn from our mistakes? This has happened three times? You're suppose to setting the bar PP not showing us how to make puffer smoothies. I agree stuff happens but truly believe you should be scolded for this one. Spankings are in order. :badboy: Shame on you. :tuttut:

I agree. I want to spank myself too! I'm really wondering what's wrong with me--particularly my memory. I know that long-term marijuana use can affect memory (used regularly for 20 years, clean for 12). I also have been taking Lunesta for 3 years now (severe lifelong insomnia) & am entering menopause. I have looked into Lunesta, because it says it causes memory loss but it's only supposed to be while you're under the influence (8 hours at most). To tell you the truth, about an hour after taking it, I can barely function & go straight to bed. I do forget the endings of shows I was watching after taking it too. I keep asking the sleep specialist about this & he just says keep taking it.
