fish and shrimp
Alright I have 3 tanks set up and only have 1 fish LOL. My 55 is cycled but I dont have my puffers yet, and its killin me to look over and see an empty tank. So Im thinking of getting some fish in there for now until the 10 cycles. The 10 is going to be used as shrimp and snail farm so what ever fish i get has to be shrimp and snail friendly. What would yall suggest, dont really want something like neons, or danio's kinda thinking tiger barbs but not sure if they will eat all my shrimp

What puffers are planning for the 55g? I'd wait, because most puffers would eat the other fish. How are you keeping that tank cycled?
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Im going with SAP's, was told a species only tank would be best.
The 55 is planted with some snails,I know they dont do much for the cycle stuff.
The 10 has a few plants in it to help cycle. I planned on moving the barbs to the 10 when the puffers show up. I have no idea when I will be able to get the puffers. Im waiting on the LFS to get em

I don't think you totally understand the cycling process. There needs to be an ammonia source to keep the nitrifying bacteria alive in the numbers large enough to support the puffers you are expecting to buy:

Re: fish and shrimp
food will work. Adding enough food to the tank as you normally would feed the fish would help it along
That is usually done to keep it cycled ad opposed to the actual cycle itself, but it should work also.
