Strange Duo

I just thought I'd relate this very odd pairing in my tank. I've got guppies in just about all my tanks because I breed them as food for my piscivore puffers, and some end up in tanks without piscivore puffers. Anyway a while back a tiny guppy fry got into my dwarf puffer tank, which also houses 3 different gobies species, but the only ones I know the name of are the bumblebee gobies. Well, this tiny guppy took a liking to one of the bumblebee gobies, and it's quite funny because this poor goby tries to swim away and the guppy follows it everywhere! The guppy is a bit older now and has turned into a male guppy with his beautiful colours, but he still follows the BB goby, nudging it and going everywhere the goby goes. It's a bit funny really, although I am guessing the BB goby doesn't share the humour. I don't know if the guppy thinks the goby is it's mate, or what .... but it's just funny to see them swimming together around the tank. Makes me laugh each time I look in there.

That is pretty funny. Those bb gobies are brackish but you have them in with dwarf puffs?

I've always kept my BB gobies in freshwater. There's some controversy about where they belong, but one of the leading fish magazines over here, Practical Fishkeeping, had an article some months back saying that there actually is a freshwater variety of BB goby. At any rate, I've never had any problems with them in freshwater, and most of the LFS's tend to keep them that way as well. But each to their own I suppose.

There is a FW bumble bee goby species. IDK if that's what she has though. [ninja'd]

Cute story, pg. I have fish that randomly pair up too, like an EXTREMELY aggressive guppy [who killed other fish] and a very peaceful male betta.

I know they are low end brackish and what I have read is to add a lot of fresh water to induce spawning with the bb gobies. I realize that the fresh shouldnt harm them, the fact you said they were tankmates with a dwarf made me curious.
