You were all fab about a year ago helping me with my first ever fish and my first puffers - Dwarves. I had 4 in a 14g and ended up having two males and two females as they matured. One male I had to separate as he got bullied and the others I had a traumatic experience with one of the females getting trapped air and unable to expel it. It shocked me to the core at the time being my first fish and im not proud to say I rehomed them as it was too traumatic. I then tried GSPs but diving in salty conditions I went too deep too far without prior experience that would have really helped.
That was then and this is now, I have two gorgeous male irrubescos who are fab and cute and cant wait to add the females, the weeks they have been with me have been great and I have fattened them up.
I can now say I am attempting DP ownership round 2, with 3, one a definate female, one showing male signs and one just sooo tiny we will have to wait and see. I have had them about 2-3 weeks and couldnt be happier, I feel far more experienced and relaxed to know what to do with water changes, their behaviour, feedings etc. Just a thank you for helping me on my journey to this point.
Here is a photo of one of them on introduction, they were all a little skinny to start but they have fattened well over the weeks with no signs of IPs.
Why did I go for them? Because Im more experienced, they are cute. I was missing my first and the Pets at Home up the road had them unexpectedly in a delivery on the day I happened to be there and they didnt know what to do. I gave them key instructions, what space, who not to put with, what numbers, how to tell them apart and food (they were trying flake!). At the time I was tempted and gave my mobile number incase they needed help with them. I also gave the important instruction NOT to lift them out of the water for anything when transportating.
Well...went week or two later, they had had every single puff sold returned as the less trained staff had said they could go community, they had also lost half probably IPs but mainly again unless the two ladies I knew were on then they were attempting to solely feed flake food or pellets..I twinged and bought 2 of the smallest which the lady I knew begged me to take. She texted me later asking if I would go for a baby she had found. So ended up with the three!
