Problem w/ CO2 in filter intake

So, we finally got our DIY CO2 set up tonight and decided to run the line directly into the intake of the filter. We stuck the airline through the bars on the intake of our Rena XP3 and up a couple of inches so that every bubble went into the filter. It seemed to have been working fine for couple of hours. However, we just heard a loud almost grinding noise coming from the filter and it went on for about 10-15 seconds and then whoosh! A lot of bubbles came flying out of the spray bar. After hearing that rather unpleasant noise from the filter, we pulled the line out of the intake. (FYI: The fish are fine.) The line has been out of the intake for a good 20 minutes now and there is still a fine mist of bubbles coming out of the spray bar. All the noise has stopped from the filter and everything appears to be working fine and we have a temporary setup (it's not very efficient or practical).

So, we're now looking for a new way to diffuse the CO2 into the water. So, what has worked well in your experience for diffusing diy CO2

Also, I was under the impression that running the CO2 through an XP3 would be perfectly fine and do a very good job at dissolving the gas. Was I incorrect in this idea?

Also, we currently are getting 95 bpm and we will be running an air pump and strong surface current all night.

That's how I did mine.

You need to get that CO2 to hit the impeller. If it doesn't it wont work.

There's alo the "stick a chopstick" in the line but doesn't work nearly as well.

just curious, why are you moving to CO2 anyway?

Plants growing too slow Background is ugly and still visible. Also figured high light probably wouldn't do too much extra without CO2.

Checking out that link now. We didn't have it diffusing overnight so all the fish are fine.
