how long do dps keep breeding for?

Post by rachy »

its been 5 months or so now..that i know of, could of been longer tho!! will they just breed forever?? i dont mind if they like lol, just wondering!! also how long do puff babies take to grow up?? i knew they would grow slowly, cos they never really get big do they...but at 5 months old, the very biggest of the babies is still only maybe 1 5th of my adultssize lol!

Did you separate out the fry to another tank for grow-out? They will be the bottom of the food chain in the breeding tank and grow quite slowly.

Segregated from adults, they grow faster. They should be full size by about a year, ~3/4 inch by ~ 8 months.

These are the shortest lived puffer we keep, about 5 years +/-.. Breeding females don't last as long as the males, my oldest breeder female was about 3 or maybe a bit less.
