Puffer Diet

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could tell me some good information on a porcupine puffers diet.

I've had one for a couple months now and in the beginning he wouldn't eat anything but live shrimp. So, I started my own tank of ghost shrimp and fed the shrimp, pellets and marine algae until they were gut loaded and fed him those.

But, those shrimp can be expensive so out of all of the frozen foods i've tried to feed him he seems to enjoy Raw Shrimp the best. He devours it until his stomach bulges out a bit. I was wondering if the raw shrimp has good nutrients in it for him? I get these at that supermarket.

i feed my fahaka same thing loves em and there tastey full of goodies, also give her mussels in shell and scallops. pretty sure market foods is good way to go for porc much cheaper and frozen foods thawed out less chance of introducing bad stuff to your puffs
*i pre thaw a few days worth of food in liquid vitamins for added benefits stored in fridge *

what type of vitamins do you soak it in?

is there anything specific to give to puffs?

...if i go to a lfs do i just ask for any generic fish vitamins???

I've tried the Zoe vitamins, and my fish all turned their nose up at them. If I tried again, I'd probably go with the GelTek brand, as they seem to have figured out the flavors that fish really like, considering they make a dewormer that fish will eat greedily!

For marine fish, I use Selcon & Vita-Chem.

Their medications have some kind of biological chemical that induces feeding urges. Their vitamins must have the same thing.
