Breeding trumpet snails

In my long history of housing GSP's I have become aware of the demanding need to keep their teeth growth at a minimal. I have looked at fish stores around Southern Cali and haven't found a good store that has a large supply of snails to limit teeth growth. So instead I will venture to the unknown and breed snails for the very first time. I have heard that trumpet snails grow rapidly and can survive with certain salt levels. But how should I go about this? I have an extra 3 gallon tank I was hoping to breed this guys in with an under-gravel filter with a few live plants and a baggie of algae wafers. Will these guys breed on their own, or what should I do to increase the growth rate? A romantic stroll along the beach maybe? Or perhaps, a classic black and white movie with popcorn to finish the night? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

Pop them in the tank and they will multiply, no need to do anything apart from making sure that they have food, mine have survived salinities between SG1.003 and SG1.015, I've never owned a freshwater tank but I assume that they'd cope with that fine as well as long as the water is relatively hard.

I've not had any problems but there are reports that MTS shells can chip puffers teeth but you could crush them first.

I never bought my MTS's they came with plants so buy the plants first and you may get lucky.

I have also heard not to feed MTS but you probably know better than me:) I have a 10 gallon breeding ramshorn and some other types. I put in a few plants and they started to multiply. I have noticed to get a big population explosion you can add food and raise the temp a bit (even 2 degrees). I feed them cucumber, carrot, sweet potatoe, strawberry, tomato, or whatever veggie I'm eating that day. They don't eat much of the plants as long as I feed them well. Its been a couple months and I'm going to transfer them to a 20 long to expand the population.

I got some of my first population by asking all the lfs if they had snail problems. Some gave me a few for free or sold them cheap.
