Filter Stream?

Post by Bilo18 »

My figure Eight puffer swims into the filter stream often...is this normal behavior or does this mean hes sick or stressed? Also he mostly swims at the top of the tank or on the side along the glass. He never explores the tank as my GSP does often. I set up rock caves and an airstone but nothing seems to interest him besdies the current from the filter stream and the glass. Any ideas? Thanks

One of my GSPs loves swimming against the current - the other, not so much. He will swim swim swim really hard, then stop & go with the current, then swim really hard again! Think its just normal behaviour/exercise for some of them.

I think it's common for river-dwelling fish. F8s live in/near estuaries, so I guess there's strong currents in those river parts.

My otos used to hitch a ride in the flow from a bubble wand, in circles around the tank.

Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

I was having a similar problem. I tried to "over filter my tank" and had 2x 40 gal filters on a 30 gal tank and my poor little GSPs were getting caught in the filter intakes. They weren't strong enough to swim away..
