will a puffer and a file fish fight

Post by sample789 »

i wanted to get a green file fish and a valentini puffer but i fear they would fight since puffers fight conspecifics but i looked on the internet and i couldnt seem to find anything saying if they would or not.

What will the adult size of the filefish be? I kept a Tassled file with a baby burrfish.

I have one now about 3 1/2", they get to 12". keep mine with a dogface puffer. Wouldn't recomend any fish more agressive than the dogface. The tassled filefish "Fuzzy" seems to be growing fast.

Probably should work. How big is your tank?

Yeah but probably not enough room for both those fish.

i think the tyleri puffer stays smaller, or at least the ones i've seen in my LFS were always alot smaller than the valentinis they had. very cute little puffers, i've seen them under leopard puffer as well.

Supposedly there is a type of filefish that actually shoals in with valentinis. From what I gather, this particular filefish resembles valentinis and uses them for protection, since most other fish recognize that valentinis are toxic.

Yeah, I was reading up on that fish.

The way they can be separated is by the fin on the top of the filefish, apparently. Interesting fish.
