Hey i was just wondering what type of salt is the best kind or does it matter? Also are there any guides on trimming teeth or any other things to do about long teeth because my puffer wont cruch the snails he just sucks it out of the shell.

I think most people on this forum go for the cheapest salt if it's not intended for reef aquariums. I use Instant Ocean synthetic salt since it's the cheapest kind within my area that does not need to be shipped. It dissolves pretty fast also, which is a plus. I think Tropic Marin is probably the most expensive, though I don't know anyone within my area who actually sells the stuff.

Try feeding your puffer snails that are about the size of his eye if not smaller. He'll be forced to crunch on those. In addition, you can also feed it clams on the half shell. It'll scrape its beak pretty against the shell while it's going at the meat. Haven't seen any dental problems with my GSPs and their diet consists more of clams than snails.

Instant Ocean is generally what most people use since it is the most reliable and popular.

I just buy instant ocean when its on sale.. I don't think you need to be that picky if you don't have corals, as long as it is marine salt.

I use (& am happy with) Aqua One Salt. £18 for an 8kg tub.

I'm actually kind of partial to Ocean Pure. Cheap, good, never an issue.
