3d Background

so i was on http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/d ... ground.php tonight trying to figure out if i could install something like this into the tank i have now that is up and running. It is currently filled so i was trying to think about how i could do this without causing any harm. What if i took pieces of rock secured them to a piece of glass or plexi-glass and then used reef epoxy to attach the background to the back of the aquarium? I have say for a while thinking if this solves all the problems like high Ph or the glue adhering and can't think of any. I just wanted to see if anyone can see any problems that might arise from this that i have not thought about?

I know Drs. Foster and Smith sell these three-dimensional backgrounds for a pretty fair deal. In addition, they are also custom fit to fit specific aquarium sizes. I think, however, that they are made to fit only glass aquariums since most acrylic aquariums don't have a fully exposed opening at the top of the tank. I think you should be fine with the underwater epoxy. I'm not sure if the three-dimensional backgrounds will increase your Ph, though I'm under the impression that the ones Drs. Foster and Smith sells do not. Anyway, good luck. Post some pictures.

I can't comment on how it would be to do this .... but I would say, if you can achieve something like this, it would be very nice looking and would add to the beauty of any tank.

Ive got a similar 3D back ground from Juwel, Hopefully the pic below comes out ok, These from Juwel come in various sizes and they can be cut to fit if you have an odd size, I did buy some silicon to guy it but the rocks are holding it securely in place, unless i take them all out, The picture dosent really do the tank justice but this background looks fantastic with the white coral.

Just google Juwel Background and all shapes,sizes and colours should come up.

Thankyou very much, has taken me a while to get the thank just right but looks brilliant now, Puffdaddies about 9 months old and around 6 inches now, and he's a right little character lol
