The new tool on the block.

Post by Lil' Swimz$ »

Hey guys. I've found that there's one everyday tool that is really helpful in the aquarium hobby. That tool is.... the turkey baster! They work really good if you want to get something out of the tank but don't want to drag out your vacuum. Just letting you know.

Instead of saving for the test kit?
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Okay. Now don't buy anything new until you get the kits, okay? Especially not more fish. Or I'll go over there and get you.

You can even buy Turkey Basters "On-A-Stick" to keep your arm above water. :) No idea how much those run, probably too much. I may have to invest since my clownfish keep trying to taste me.....

That's a cool idea. I usually stick the small net in, waft it around to make an uprising current, then scoop it up, but this would disrupt the fish even less. I'll have to pick one up.

I'm not quite sure what a Turkey Baster is... And what I found on google definition wise was disturbing. What is it? :?

Its a pipette-type thing that allows you to suck up/spit out liquids (or anything small enough to fit through the opening).

I just now Googled that, too, since I wondered what the heck could have shown up that was so disturbing.

Wow.

Anywho, yeah, turkey basters are *usually* used for sucking up turkey juice/seasoning from the pan so that you can squirt it back over the top of the turkey several times as it roasts. Reapplying the juice keeps the turkey from going dry, and when you squirt on the seasoned juice repeatedly, you get more flavor cooked in.
