upgrading tank

Post by bigfatpuffer »

i have 3 GSP in a 25 gallon tank (i know it's a small tank that's y i'm upgrading)
just got a 95 gallon bowfront tank ytd, wondering how should i transfer my puffers into the new tank?
i'm planning to move all my gravel and rocks and my old filter (i'm planning to use two filters for max filtering, old + new one together) to the 95 gallon,
will that be enough for the cycling purpose(like will the bacteria get transfer to the new tank also)?
or do i still need to go through the fishless cycling process?
thank you

Yeah, you should be good. Anything and everything you can get from your old tank to put into your new one will help. If you can use the water, go ahead and do that, too.

so i can just put some of the old water in the tank, add new water to fill it up, then i can put the puffer directly into the tank? or do i still need to wait for a bit?

No need to wait. The nitrifying bacteria is in the filter and the rocks and decor. Just make sure you add a dechlorinator before you add the fish...

I would use as much of the old water as you can, unless you've been doing >50% weekly WC on them.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...
