Here's a couple of photos that turned out good enough to post, they are of my newest puffers. The female Congo I got on the 5th of this month, but the Palembang I just got on Wednesday past. It didn't take my youngest suvattii long to buddy up to him. I think they are going to be friends. I've not seen any aggression at all, nothing, so that's a good sign.

Wow... all in the same tank? How big is the tank? My suvattii would rip anything apart that goes in his tank.

And I've got 2 suvattii in the tank I've just put the Palembang into. The smaller of the two has decided it likes the Palembang, however, the other suvattii came out of his cave today and flattened his body towards the Palembang, and then puffed himself up at it. There still has not been any violence, no attacks or anything. I have a divider handy if things should get out of hand. I used to have 3 suvattii together, but then one died, so I've been reading about how (supposedly) Palembang and suvattii will get along together in the same tank -- I decided to try the theory out. The Palembang is bigger than both suvattii, but bigger isn't always better.
The Palembang has only been in there since Wednesday afternoon, so I'm hoping that things will calm down and they will all get on together.

If you want a sandy tank bottom in your tank, get pool filter sand. It's pretty clean, it won't alter your ph, and dosen't require tons of rinsing.

The little suvattii is about 3 inches long and the Palembang is about 4-1/2 inches long I'd guess. I just wasn't sure which puffers you were referring to, that's all.

The answer to that is a yes, and a sad depressing no.

The Palembang and suvattii are still living peacefully together with no problems.

But I'm afraid I've got bad news about my Congo. To make space for more puffers, I put a divider up in my Baileyi tank, and because it's got that Juwel textured background on it, it's hard to get the edges tight, which I learned much too late.
I moved my Congo into the other section after I put the divider in, and everything seemed fine, it was a little bigger for her.
Then I went up to take a shower, and when I came down, I didn't see her, and when I looked closer, I could see that the divider had buckled some, enough for her to get into the side with the Baileyi.
I found her on top of the CO2 bubble counter, a really dark colour and I knew something bad had happened. Too right.
He had bitten her from underneath and taken out most of her undercarriage, severing her stomach in the process. She was still alive but I knew she didn't have long. And I was right.
I cried like a baby all last night and then again this morning for the loss of her. I just feel so stupid for moving her to that tank. I'm still kicking myself because she was a lovely colour and I won't find another one that colour I know it. Besides that, I have a thing for those Congo puffers, they are so cute and they have endearing characteristics.
I hadn't intended on putting up a post about her dying .... but since you asked, I thought I would tell. It's nearly enough to make me say "I've had enough, and I don't want to play this game anymore", but then when I look at all the other puffers I've got, well I can't just pack it up and give up on them.
But I do feel very upset and I still do cry about her dying, especially such a horrible death.

Oh No! Im so sorry for your loss schismy007. Accidents do happen though so don't blame yourself and don't give up on all your wonderful other puffs. Really really sorry for your loss lots of hugs for you xxx

Thank you lilacamy931, it's been difficult today, especially when I pass by her tank, and I expect to see her orange body going up and down. I feel like such a fool.
