I have a 200L marine tank which has finished cycling according to my ammonia, nitrite and nitrate tests. My 2 GSPs are currently in a smaller tank while this one finishes cycling, and now they're ready to move. However, I love my puffs so much, I'm scared to put them in their new tank incase the tests are wrong, or it goes through a mini cycle or something.

So, I was thinking of getting a chromis to see if anything changes when I add him, then I'll add the puffs one at a time over a couple of weeks (need to fatten the little one up, and it will also help keep the cycle changes to a minimum.

My question is, once I've got the chromis, do you think he'll live happily with my GPSs? Both the GSPs are pretty laid back, but I am aware that they might get more aggressive as they get bigger. I figure chromis' are pretty fast and not very aggressive, so they should be ok?

It's very hard to say, and I don't have any personal experience with this combination. In general, though, you're safer assuming that your puffers will kill most other tankmates. If it doesn't happen, then great - but you should be ready for the worst, if you decide to add the chromis. Like you say, the chromis are fast, but no creature likes to be chased around all the time even if it never does get caught.

You could always try some shrimp or something - that way, when you add the GSPs, they'd just have a yummy snack.

The cheapest shrimp I can get here are NZ$80 cleaner shrimp. Needless to say, I'm not keen to spend that much on a snack.
