GSP and solandri or valentini in 40gal?
I think I will get Hootey a 40gal breeder if I can't find a bigger used tank. it will have his current 20gal for a sump. Can I have a solandri or valentini with him? or is it just not enough swim room?

I've been wondering the same thing, if I could put a valentini or solandri in a 55 with my GSP. She's the only fish in that tank so far, and it's heavily decorated. I'm also wondering how a picasso trigger would do with her, but I'm thinking the trigger is going to get way too big for that tank anyway so it's sort of a moot point I guess.

I think it would be alright in a 55, and i know people have done that. just make sure you have enough LR/skimmer to keep good water parameters.
I would not get the trigger though. Not only will it outgrow a 55, I hear they are fairly aggressive as are most triggers...

The GSP can be quite aggressive & will at least double the size of the valentini.

I understand that PP, and Hootey has never shown any aggression... yet. I am also willing to rehome if aggression becomes an issue.
I just want to know if that setup would work?

I tried a couple of mollies once in my GSP's tank, took them out because she was on them immediately. So I guess I'll forget about another fish in there.

40g is too small for both these species. Immagine a Nerf football swimming in there. I bet he'd be happy in a 40g by himself. 55g would be more feasible.

Re: GSP and solandri or valentini in 40gal?
I just put my valentini with my two gsps in a 200g tank last night. I thought it would be okay since my two gsps are really wimpy. Mollies half their size beat up on them. All was well last night.
However, today my 1 inch GSP started to attack my 2 inch Valentini.
I had to take the valentini out.

Yeah, I thought it would be alright. Since there's lots of room, lots of live rock. The GSPs were non-agressiv. There's also a couple mollies and a ocerallis. They're all about an inch or so. The Valentini was also in before the GSPs.
Anyway, the Valentini is back in its original tank and doing fine.

I had my gsp for a year with Elvis, now I have a divider in the tank because Chong is nipping Elvis' tail. Chong is about 3.5" and Elvis is going on 11". It dosen't matter how small or large the fish is, eventually they get mean.

Re: GSP and solandri or valentini in 40gal?
Yeah, they are going totally nuts in the big tank. In the smaller 55 they were very docile. Now they are biting everything. I had some neat hitch hikers with my live rock...a small sea cucumber, a shrimp, various baby corals, but they are all bitten in half now. They even bit two bristleworms (I didn't really want them anyway).
Luckily, they are scared of the smaller mollies and leave the clown alone.
