Puffer Newbie...Advice? Ideas? Help?

Post by Dakota789 »

Hi Everyone...

I REALLY want to get a puffer tank going. I am setting up a 10 gallon tank, heater, filter, all that stuff... it's cycling as we speak.

I need some help though, making a decision... What types of puffers can live happily in a 10 Gallon tank? How many of them can live comfortably in a tank that size? and what other types of fish (or other aquatic creatures) can co-exist in the tank with them?

Thanks for your help!!!!

You can put 3 dwarf puffers and no other fish. One male, two females. :D

If you get 2 you could get some oto's and shrimp.
I believe 1 irrubesco or salivator or any of those kind of puffers could live in there too.

Personally I think you would be quite happy with a single dwarf puffer. I was more than happy with one in a 30 gallon tank. IF you get bored with just the puffer, you can always add a clown pleco or otos. I used to keep mollies with mine, but they were too quick and too active for the puffer. I would suggest some slower, more casual fish without long fins. Or just keep it by itself.
