Added a tree stump

this was in my piranha tank, i decided to take it out because one of the piranha would hide in it all day and just come out for food..i thought it would mess with its metabolism or somthing, and since the puffer doesnt stay in it that often i put it in the puffer tank, yea i cleaned it with water before...any comments....

The stump will give the puffer a few places to explore and hide, so that is a good thing. You might consider adding some more plants and other items though to make the tank more interesting for him though.

Also, puffers have a habit of sleeping on horizontal surfaces. I suggest hanging your heater in a verticle position to help prevent him/her from getting burned on it.

Very impressive chunk of wood. If it is real and not synthetic, it might be good idea to monitor the pH and KH regularly to see it it is affecting the water chemistry. Large quanties of wood can have some negative effects in BW if the water changes are not large enough or frequent enough.

its synthetic and yes it is hollow, he can go inside and come out from the bottom..

Looks great! I found some of these too & wonder how one would look in a 30 Long.

I didn't know that real wood was bad in a BW tank! I've had a stump thing (with a plastic base) in my brackish tank for the last 6 months or so. Haven't really checked the pH levels recently. I did have a F8 suddenly die though, do you think that might have been it?? I couldn't find any other reason for it to die, it was perfectly healthy for so long (kept eating) and then in one week it went under. I had the wood in its tank the entire time though...

If you were doing normal upkeep on the tank, driftwood just increases your workload. It should not have harmed the fish unless the tank was badly ignored.

i sold the stump, but it was in a 10 gallon, i first had it in my 30 gallon long where i have my two piranha, and piranha need alota space so that thing wasnt gonna do any good, but it would look cool if u have a puffer in the 30 gallon...

It does look great - my F8 rules the cave like area under the stump. And the shrimp like to crawl over it.
