GSP with coral

I am going to move Bud and Junior to full marine over the next 6 months. Has anyone kept any corals with GSPs? I was thinking of mushrooms, leathers and maybe some ployps. And ideas?

GSPs and Ceylons will almost-always nip/eat coral. You *might* be able to keep mushrooms, leathers, and xenia depending on your puffers' temperaments, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. Polyps will undoubtedly be eaten.

If you're putting them in a large tank, you can always pick up some egg crate and create a section to one side of the tank that's dedicated to coral. It certainly doesn't have the same effect as having coral in the whole tank, but it's better than having none.

The egg crates are a good idea. I am more in to mushrooms right now- my toby leaves them alone. I don't know about the GSPs- they have 2 flounder for tankmates and haven't eaten them yet.

Yeah, it's quite possible to have GSPs living with coral. It just depends on the puffers themselves. My two Ceylons devastated my finger leather and frogspawn coral. I was disappointed, to say the least.

Well I moved them to the new tank this weekend. Now I have 6mos. th decide if they will get coral in their tank. I did just put some new frags in the solandri's tank- he tastes things then spits out the nasty ones. So far he won't eat mushrooms, leathers, gregorians, frog spawn, and sponge (jury is still out on the sponge- he keeps eyeing it up but only nips the rock it is on). I think one key thing is we give him sea veggies every other day- this way he is not looking for algae to eat.
