Juvenile Scats

I am thinking of adding juvenile 3 to 4 scats to my 55 gallon.

My question is: Can the juvenile scats take salinity of 1.005 and above (start at 1.005 and slowly increase) and how many must i have to let them feel safe? Lastly food to feed them?

1.005 is fine for scats, as they like marine conditions as adults. What size tank do you plan on upgrading them to? They'll wind up needing 50g ea. They are the pigs of the BW world & produce a HUGE bioload & get about the size of a dinner plate. They're garbage ccans & will eat pretty much everything. They do like their veggies too.

Heaven! They sound horrible from the way you describe. From what i see at the LFS each is round 4 cm in length, so i think it will take a few years to reach their adult size.

Not planning to upgrade the tank so from your advice i will just have two of them instead.

In that case, expect to do huge weekly WC, which is really going to cost you a lot in $alt at higher SG.

I just bought a eheim 2028 with biohome. It should be able to handle the bioload and reduce water change right?

I'm not familiar with eheim personally, the main thing is watching your water parameters and not letting the water turn to poison...

I think, even though the Ehinem is a powerful filter, that the scats will still have too high a bioload for that tank. They eat like pigs and grow up in a hurry. Recommended filtration for even two scats would be 10x per hour giving you a need to filter 550 per hr and that's minimum.

My current eheim 2028 has a pump output of 1050 l/h and filter circulation is 750l/h. Judging from all the comments I will have to either get another eheim 2028 when the scats grow up or upgrade the tank with a even more powerful filter.

2 may (will) give you aggression problems. you really need a small school (4 or 5) or just the 1.
