Getting all excited! (HE'S HERE! PIX INSIDE)

Post by Pandora114 »

Getting Pepsi in a few more days. Man I can't wait for the lil guy. His home is all ready with 10 nitrates and I'll do another %50wc the day that I pick him up from the store (the 20th) Gonna get a few more taller silk plants for him to swim through and play in, and more salt >.> need more salt. And prime too...and some parizpro just to be on the safe side..

Then NEXT MONTH big overhaul of the DP tank yet again. Man those guys are gonna hate me....gonna take em out of their home, put em in the snail tank (cycled with a sponge filter....sure it's not HUGE...only 2.5 gallons but it's only for a few hours) Gonna retrofit my hood with some proper ballast/lighting kits, put some nice bright growing lights, gonna dump some flourite in and mix it up with the existing substrate, and plant my tank again. Gonna take that chunk o plastic wood out, and put in some mangrove-like roots for them to swim in, and maybe some rock caves for them to hide in as well. Once that's all done gonna pick up some Oto's and QT them in the snail tank, and intro them into the DP tank.

Soo the Before picture: for future reference

Image
The putrid neon pink plants were from the brackish tank after I ripped out all the "Natural looking" plastic plants to put in with the GSP that just recently passed away, figure I"d give them SOMETHING....Those are going into the Tetra tank upstairs after the overhaul.

Image
Hey Peek, do you think the food bearer is gonna get rid of those stupid pink things any time soon?
I dunno Boo, but I hope so they're really starting to bug me
Yeah I liked the old plants...
Well I heard her talking the other day and she said she's gonna do something BIG...man..not looking forward to that.
When she does something BIG...we gotta watch out.
Oh crap here comes her hand again to take out more crud...(Cyano leavings..still picking it out)

So does my daughter hence why they're going in her tank. My DP's really don't care for them and are getting more and more stressed. Starting to pace the glass and fight with each other...lol

Nitrates are at 10 in the brackish tank, gonna prep a %50 WC tomorrow, then do the WC on Tues morning so it's all nice and clean for Pepsi when we get him. Hehehe

So excited

Just did a %50 WC on my 32gal brackish tank. WOOHOO! less than 5 nitrates now. Nice clean water for my little Pepsi! So excited. Got my list, I'm checkin it twice. yup got everything I need.

Tomorrow will be my DP tank since the nitrates are crawling up to 10 in there. Next month they'll be so shaken up...

I really like keeping my nitrate load under 10...

the owner of the LFS I got him at was like "He's so cute, I don't want to sell him to you now because he's just caught my heart, but I can't own any more tanks at home I don't have room" hehehe

he managed to get through the night without getting stuck to either the filter intake or the power head *My main concern with such a small fish in that tank* Means he's nice and healthy.

Just gave him some blood worms and wow did he scarf them down! Any he missed he's actively hunting down! No uneaten food will be left in THAT tank hehe.

pandora, have you ever thought of putting a small sponge over the intake of the filter?...in my baby growout tank i have a small sponge filter on the intake so my little babies can't be sucked up in it?...
if what i am saying is hard to imagine i will be glad to take a picture of it for you....just let me know.....but it doesn't interfere with the filtration at all ......

glad he's doing so well for you too....they sure steal the heart fast don't they????.... :D

I have no worries about him getting sucked INTO the filter, but stuck TO the filter intake. I use a Rena XP2 Canister. He can't fit into the intake, but he sure can get stuck by the suction. So even with the sponge on it he can still get stuck to it KWIM? the fact he can fight the current is a good sign
