hi my girl friend has a small tank with a figure 8 puffer and a green spotted puffer in very light brakish water. the figure 8 is well over two years old now and the green spotted is over a year old so i guess there happy how she keeps them. i am puling my 200 ltr afican cichlid tank down in favour of my first ever marine tank. i would love it to go in our front room but thats where the gf tank is. so as we r running a 70ltr tank for just two tiny puffers i would prefer to get rid of that tank and import the little puffers into my tank. now we got the aqualog book on puffers and in this it says two different things. on one page it says there brakish water only but on the description page and where it goes into much more detail it says they can both be fresh and brakish water but can be very sickly and fragile in fresh water and buy contrast can be very hardy in brakish and marine enviroments.
so my question to you all
do you know if these would be ok in full marine (35ppt salt) walter. has any of you got sum in marine tanks. id really hate to hurt the little blighters espically as i now have the dentistry down to a fine art.
i know id have to build em up slowly to the salt water but this is not a problem i have time ( i hope ) please only answer if you really know from experience that these will be ok as my girl friend would never forgive me if i killed em.
oh second question. will they eat my cleaner hermit crabs hehehehe they wont go near horn snails as there too tuff for them and way to big so hermit crabs would be the size of them hehehehe. i think they would be fine and might even enjoy sum company of a few reef mates.
