Well, fishlady said her puffer is a "he"... so, either you've misinterpreted what Filbert said... or your puffer just came out of the closet! ^_^

 .........well, myself i'm not sure if Ra is a boy or not....but when i got him his label on the tank was "Nile Puffer"....so my boyfriend came up with an Egyptian name of the sun god RA....so it seemed to fit.....if indeed Ra is a female then we'll have to convert to Cleo.....
how do i sex him/her?????

and i did have a question...
i myself have never seen a "mollusk" let alone be able to know where to get one for my puffer.....but i want to be able to give Ra a nutritious diet and i didn't think that feeding blood worms, and snails would be sufficient....so any information is sincerely appreciated.....

and thanks for the compliments.....i just love Ra.....those eyes "had me at hello".....

and if Philbert is coming out..then you go mister...... :D

Congratulations on your new puffer. I know you've waiting a long time for him. It's about time CF got off his hiney and got you one. :D
There is no way to sex a fahaka puffer without cutting it open. Don't think you want to do that. One day when it's older and you see lots of eggs laying around
on the sand bed, if it ever happens, then you will know it's a girl. :D Anyway, I buy most of my puffer food from HEB's fresh seafood dept., mussels, clams, shrimp and crab. Never needed to trim anyone's teeth. Since your little guy is so small, I would take the mussel or clam break it open scrape most of the meat off then feed him what's left on the shell, so that he don't over eat. Btw: if you buy fresh seafood, freeze it first then defrost it before feeding. This kills all the nasties on the fresh seafood. If you are able to find baby crays, that would be good for him also. Ghost shrimp, gut loaded before feeding, is always fun to watch them hunt the shrimp down and eat it, use this only as a treat. I wish you a long and bright future with your little guy. :D

I use Selcon vitamins, and kent garlic guard to soak their food. I also use pure vitamin c and just got in beta glucan. Being in Houston you should be able to find them pretty easy. Most of us have to order online.

Garlic Extreme/Garlic Gard--same thing. I thought Selcon was for SW fish?

Maybe Filbert is like Kalvin... he'll hump anything!

I have been using it on Annabelle's food. Should I not use it for her? I never even thought about it to be honest with you. :(

It can't hurt... Since I feed bloodworms to all my fish & corals, I soak them in FW & SW vits & Selcon. Doesn't seem to bother the FW fish. The stuff is $$$ though.

Sorry to steer you wrong on the Selcon. Looks like I need to change Annabelle's vitamins. I found this for fw fish.
Vita-Chem
