1. Can I have two dog faced puffers in the same tank?

2. what snails should I look into for my puffer?

3. Well it stop being shy?

4. How big of a tank do you suggest I invest in for its future?

5. What other fish can I consider having with my puffer in a fish only tank set up?

1. got a 240 or bigger? if not i dont think so. even if tis rather dangerous as both puffers will vie for territory and one will be severly picked on ans the other dominates it in size as it eats more

2. anything but malaysian turbo snails is fine. ramshorns when larger is great.

3. yes it takes a few days or weeks but it will attach to you like a dog, you in the room its staring at you and begging for food

4. at least a 150 which i see you have. otherwise keep looking up nonoe died from too big of a tank cept when it either fell through the floor or thew drowned in it from trying to clean the bottom corners LOL

5. hmm peaceflu triggers (HAHAHAHA i said peaceful) try a niger or picasso
angels dwarf or if a bigger than 150 a full sized one. eels and clownfish, gobies hecjk anything that isnt a really mean fish or isnt a shrimp or looks like one is generally ok. try for community fish though.

BIG NONOS maroon clowns, clown or queen triggers, or anything that isnt faster than the puffer.

Thank you....that is a bummer that 2 cannot be together, as the LFS just got another tiny one! No biggie, glad I know before I went and bought it!

Do you think my dog face and Seahorses could be together? He seems so docile...but then again I worry about a fin nipper, though he swims with the clown I have with him and the yellow goby as well. Just a thought....

I don't think seahorses mix well with others. They are awfully easy to imtimidate.

NO!! NO seahorses. I doubt it would take long for them to become very expensive food.

NO seahorses be a meal, and they would stop eating. puffers and miost inverts are no nos unless you do alot of work with them and food training. thats one thing i do so i have some experiance here. please dont do that

I unfortunately tried in the past in a 260g tank but the few times where they were met it began a great dog battle.
You can put some other arothron species but donâ€™t try with another dog faced puffer.

Seahorses + Puffers = death sentence for seahorse, gormet meal for puffer. Even if the puffer doesn't eat/kill the seahorses they will never be able to compete for food in the same habitat.

I've kept smooth puffers together before but it is 100% about matching personality of the fish. Not a situation you can blanket say yes or no to. As always, keep an eye on it, be ready to evacuate if needs be.

So far some mexican turbo snails have done okay as tank cleaners but I get the impression that if I miss a feeding or something my puffers will pay me back in escargot... As far as puffer diet, mixed meaty stuff w' some mysis for fat content but everyone has their preferences.

For puffer tankmates, I like a *single* large angel, a *single* tang, a decent sized wrasse, a grouper if you find one that behaves itself, and personally a long-horn cowfish.

Tank size...55-75 as juv, 125-150 (w' uber skimmer/filtration) or 175-200+ if you are more lazy.

Puffers have the most complex personality of any fish I've met so it takes time but they do bond with their owners big time. Just like people, some take longer than others.....
